With regulations placing more and more emphasis on both outside air ventilation and energy efficiency, adding an Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) to an HVAC system can help meet outside air demands while saving energy at the same time.

How Does an ERV Work?
When fresh air is brought into a building, conditioned air is exhausted back outside to equalize the building pressure. The air leaving the building has energy in it – warm energy in the winter and cool energy in the summer. An ERV captures about 70% of that energy from the leaving air and puts it back into the fresh air entering the building. By recapturing this energy, the rooftop unit doesn’t have to run as long – and in many cases the rooftop unit size can be reduced – which can mean lower equipment costs and lower utility bills.
What is a Unitized ERV?
A unitized ERV is an Energy Recovery Ventilator that connects directly to a new or existing rooftop unit and doesn’t require any additional roof penetrations. And because RRS works with most major manufacturers in the HVAC industry, we can make an ERV that will fit with virtually any rooftop unit in the market.
