Our Economizers
Our economizers are constructed with only the best metal and components, and we have a long history of supplying the industry’s leading OEMs with their economizer product line. Our patented gear and rack damper has been proven to deliver outside air with lower static pressure and with less leakage than other damper types, and every outside air product is fully run tested before it leaves our production facility.
We also recently introduced a full line of ASHRAE 90.1-2010 compliant low leak economizers that feature the lowest leaking blade and seal in the industry. With a proven design and hours of lab testing, the RRS low-leak economizer will have you prepared for ASHRAE standard 90.1 and will put you ahead of the competition.
ASHRAE-Recommended Parallel Blade Technology
We use a parallel blade design on all of our economizers for one reason - we believe, and research supports, that parallele blade design gives better performance when compared to opposed blade designs. Static pressure increases significantly more - 12 times - with opposed blade economizers near the mid-stroke, 50% open, position. This has the potential to starve the rooftop unit for air in the 50% position unless significant size modification are made to the ratio of damper openings. Additionally, if the rooftop unit does not sense the additional pressure and therefor increase the speed of the supply blower, the unit will not perform as specified. This is further clarified in ASHRAE 16 2010 where it states in section 4.3.3.4, “Where outdoor air and return air dampers are controlled so that one opens when the other closes, both outdoor air and return air dampers should be parallel-blade dampers”.
