The Cool-Free residential economizer is installed with the home’s existing heating and cooling system, and during normal heating or cooling operation the Cool-Free can be set to either close completely so no outside air is brought into the home or bring in a small amount of outside air to help with indoor air quality. But the real benefit of the Cool-Free is when the temperature outside is cool but the house needs cooling - when these conditions exist the system will automatically open the damper and bring in the cool, fresh outside air and turn off the energy-burning compressor.
